Hometown 19: Highs and Lows...At the Break

Now that the all-star break has passed, where once again Madison isn't allowed a DITR (I'm not bitter...), here's a new segment I like to call "Highs and Lows...At the Break" where we look at some fun facts that highlight the highest highs and the lowest lows of the season around the halfway mark.  Let's get into it:

VETERAN PERFORMANCE:
HIGH

Roger Clemens - With 33 home runs and 42 stolen bases, he is pacing an absurd 57 home runs, 71 steals, and 81 early bird specials.

LOW

Rolando Armas - With a 5.79 ERA and a league leading 28 home runs allowed, he's melting the Jack Cheese in a burrito of failure.

OUTLIER PERFORMANCE:
HIGH

Emilio Sanchez - With an astounding ERA/Whip of 2.65 / 0.95, he's out-kicking his coverage more than Scott Podsednik.

LOW

MilwaukeeWith all his top prospects rushed to the majors, Milwaukee is pacing a crafty 47 wins and is in danger of a very crafty expulsion after next season.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR:
HIGH

Jimmie Johnson - Despite not arb delaying him and surrounding him with little hitting, his superb pitching is keeping Rochester hovering around a solid 10 games under .500.

FREE AGENT PERFORMANCE:
HIGH

Fernando Carreras -  At just $8 million this season, he's got 21 home runs and 13 steals, while playing slightly better defense than Craig McFarland

LOW

Andres Duran - With just 45 durability, Duran got a $9.5 million dollar pay raise to come to Fresno.  One wonders if that money could have gone to a better cause, like signing Derrek Morandini, or purchasing ownership in Myspace.

TEAM PERFORMANCE:
HIGH

Sacramento - The team is legit, and I think Brian Hara finally got tired of all the complaining last season.

LOW

Atlanta - I think the picture above says it all.
